RPG Terminology
Role-playing games have an abundant amount of terms that may confuse or come off as a bit odd to RPG newcomers. This thread is to explain and answer any questions that the curious will inevitably ask.
RPG: Role-playing game, roleplaying game, or role playing game
RPGer - A person who takes part in role-playing games
Game Master (GM) - The owner or person running an RPG
Godmodding - Portraying a character as unbeatable. Nobody can touch this awesome badbutt who has super strength and super speed. Usually looked down upon by the RPG community.
Power Playing - Portray a character as unbeatable in a post. Not necessarily overpowered, but the character rarely makes a false step and always hits the mark with 100 percent accuracy. Usually looked down upon by the RPG community.
Mary Sue/Marty Stu - An unrealistically perfect character, that offers no originality whatsoever. Usually fulfils multiple boring clichés, and severely looked down upon by the RPG community.
Bunnying - Taking control of another person's character and making them act out of character.
Writer's Block - A condition that writers have when they are stuck for ideas
LSU - Late sign up
OOC - Out of character
IC / BIC- In character / back in character
NPC- Non-Participating/Playable Character
